Oct. 30, 2000 In response to an inquiry from the Chehalis River Council to the Corps of Engineers, we have been added to a distribtuion list for materials related to the Ecosystem Restoration and Mitigation Working Group. This Corps of Engineers provided material
is presented for your information as it relates to the ongoing developments surrounding flooding in the Centralia, Chehalis and greater Chehalis watershed. This material is a 'work in progress'.

Oct. 29, 2000 This is a must read document. Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) gathers information on water quality in the state and reports this information to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) every two years. The EPA then compiles the information with data received from other states to report the conditions of our nation's waters to Congress. This thesis identifies the existence of a growth coalition in Lewis County. It goes on to evaluate the influence of the growth coalition on flood policy decisions made by the Lewis County Board of Commissioners, and examine the implications of flood policy choices that focus on economic development as its primary goal. Finally, this thesis offers recommendations to address inadequacies in Lewis County government efforts to include the public in its policy-making process.
