Feb. 24, 2003 Though the word they (USGS) use (subsidence) means 'die down in intensity' the news is interesting. Surface depressions have occured near areas of agricultural use in Lucerne Valley in the Mojave Desert.
Feb. 22, 2003 The Chronicle reports that a $1.7 million land purchase is part of a $35 million plan that will give the city a new sewage treatment plant, and will satisfy environmental rules aimed at cleaning up the murky Chehalis River.
