• Feb. 24, 2003 Though the word they (USGS) use (subsidence) means 'die down in intensity' the news is interesting. Surface depressions have occured near areas of agricultural use in Lucerne Valley in the Mojave Desert.
• Feb. 22, 2003 The Chronicle reports that a $1.7 million land purchase is part of a $35 million plan that will give the city a new sewage treatment plant, and will satisfy environmental rules aimed at cleaning up the murky Chehalis River.
• Feb. 22, 2003 The Chronicle reports that WaDOE study on water quality is open for public comment through March 7
• Feb. 19, 2003 The Chronicle reports, albeit short notice, that there is a public meeting tomorrow to provide information on the new Chehalis Regional Water Reclamation Facility!
• Feb. 18, 2003 The Department of Ecology (Ecology) will hold a public hearing on March 11 to take comments on the proposed wastewater permit for Sierra Pacific Industries' saw mill and power-generating plant at Junction City.
• Feb. 14, 2003 Superfund program, according to The Chronicle, hooks up 18 homes and businesses who had PCE contaminated water.
• Feb. 13, 2003 WaDOE has released (in PDF only form) a report (Effectiveness Monitoring for Dioxin Total Maximum Daily Loads in Western Washington) stating that monitoring data indicates dioxin discharges have been reduced at four mills in Washington.

• Feb. 03, 2003 The Aberdeen Daily World reports that a Grays Haror Water and Property Rights Coalition will meet February 13. The public is welcomed to attend!
• Feb. 02, 2003 The Aberdeen Daily World reports a casino closed by recent minor rain event.
• Feb. 02, 2003 A relatively light rainfall event seems comparable to a significant December 2001 flood event. The impact along Highway 12 in Thurston/Grays Harbor county seems the same.

• Feb. 01, 2003 The Chronicle reports that a record 1.68 inches of rain fell in Centralia between 4 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday, resulting in rising river banks and flooded roads, especially in east Lewis County.
