Chehalis Basin groups need citizen members

  • By The Chronicle

Citizens interested in serving as a Lewis County citizen representative on the Chehalis Basin Partnership, or those interested in appointment to a separate citizens advisory board, are being sought to fill four positions allocated to Lewis County.

Lewis, Mason, Thurston, and Grays Harbor counties each have one partnership appointment and three advisory board appointments to make. Last week, only Thurston County had enough applications to fill all of its positions.

The watershed management group is made up of city and county officials, tribal representatives and state agency personnel. The state law that allows establishment of watershed planning groups requires nongovernmental representatives, including people from business, agriculture and environmental interests.

interested volunteers may submit a letter briefly summarizing their interest and background to Commissioner Richard Graham, in care of the Lewis County Board of Commissioners, 360 N.W. North St., Chehalis, Wash. 98532.

Graham said Lewis County hopes to make its appointments by the end of the year.
