Chehalis Basin Partnership (CBP)

This meeting focused primarily on the early results of the In-Stream Flow Study that is underway. This study monitored 16 stream sites where regulatory in-stream flows have been set but for which very little flow data - and in many cases no flow data -- is available. Cynthia Carlstad (TetraTech/KCM) presented an overview of the design of the study followed by the results of the stream flow monitoring that was done between June and October. Cynthia provided two handouts. One was a list of definitions and the other was a copy of the material on flows she presented.

The presentation resulted in discussion of a variety of issues, and the identification of needed follow-up actions set the stage for concentrated work by the committee on in-stream flows during the first half of 2003. Due to legislatively established deadlines for spending the funds that are supporting this project it must be complete by June 30, 2003. A portion of the presentation made today will be presented to the Partnership at its December meeting.

• Triangle Associates handed out an updated watershed plan schedule and proposed revisions to the plan outline.
• Kahle handed out the Annual Plan of work for 2002 which needs to be updated.
• Kahle handed out a compilation of decisions made by the Partnership taken from the Partnership meeting summaries he has on file. He will be checking to see if Partnership members have any meeting summaries he does not have so the record of decision can be completed.
• A request was made that a contact list for committee members be prepared and distributed to committee members.
• Kahle will check the contract with Grays Harbor County to determine what the expiration date is.
• The next meeting of the Steering/Technical Committee will be on January 2, 2003 in Olympia at the Old WDFW building.
