SUBJECT: - Suggested process for reviewing sections of the 7/23/03 draft Chehalis Basin Watershed Plan

We are pleased to provide you with both revised and new draft sections of the Chehalis Basin Watershed Plan to review. As you will see, we are color-coding drafts to help keep track of the different versions of draft documents.

What are you asked to do with the Issue Papers printed on yellow paper? These are abbreviated versions of Issue Papers the Steering/Technical Committee has drafted. They focus attention on key issues that face the Chehalis Basin, provide background information about the issues, and lay out a range of possible recommendations for your consideration. These draft issue papers will be revised and finalized based on your questions, comments, discussions and decisions about appropriate recommendations. Please spend most of your time on them.

What are you asked to do with the Plan sections printed on pink paper? These draft sections (to be handed out at the July 23 CBP meeting) include materials from the previous draft that have been revised based on your comments. Substantive changes are marked by the word "Revised" in the margin. There are also new sections. In general, they provide basic information about the watershed planning process and the Chehalis Basin (history and context). Because of prior review by the STC, we do not expect these sections to contain controversial statements. Please read them and give us your general reactions and comments to improve them.

When and how can you provide your comments about these draft documents? We will discuss the Issue Papers (printed on yellow paper) at the July 23 CBP meeting. You can provide comments at that time or you can comment in any of the three ways listed below. We would appreciate your comments no later than Friday, July 8 .

Write your comments (questions, concerns, suggestions) on the comment form handed out at the meeting and return them in the envelopes available at the meeting.

Write your comments directly on the documents and send them to us.

If you prefer to send comments electronically, give us your email address and we will send the comment form to you. After you fill it out, please return it to us.
