THERE HAS BEEN A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE FOCUS AND AGENDA FOR THE OCTOBER 24, 2003 CHEHALIS BASIN PARTNERSHIP MEETING
A number of substantive issues and concerns about the draft Chehalis Basin Watershed Plan have been raised since it was distributed September 26th. At the October 16th Steering/Technical Committee meeting it became clear that some Chehalis Basin Partnership members have decided to vote against, or are seriously contemplating voting against, approval of the draft Chehalis Basin Watershed Plan if it remains in its current form.
After much deliberation the Steering/Technical Committee reached consensus and will suggest at the October 24th meeting of the Chehalis Basin Partnership that the Partnership approve moving forward with the watershed planning process without adopting/approving the draft plan in its current form. The Steering/Technical Committee believes that the draft plan is a good start and contains a great deal of useful information, but it can and should be refined, augmented and reorganized to address the concerns that have been raised.
Copies of the substantive issues and concerns are not included in this mailing because they continue to arrive. Any issues and concerns received before the Partnership meeting on October 24th will be compiled and distributed at the meeting so that the Partnership members have as complete a record as possible on that date for the discussion.
