Strategy
Update
John asked
people to share their experiences using the subbasin templates.
- Lonnie
noticed a discrepancy between the LFA reporting and the stream catalogue
for the Wishkah subbasin.
- Bob
noticed that documented logjams from the stream catalogue are off, but
most of the facts are accurate for current conditions.
- Gavin
used the stream catalogue and some other sources to fill in the gaps for
lack of personal knowledge of the area.
Was the
task difficult?
- More time
consuming than expected.
- How will
you divide the area for land use (forestry and agriculture) and area? Chad suggested breaking the land
area out following the LFA breakdown.
- Uncomfortable
with stating personal observations. The group felt that personal
observations were acceptable to note with a reference that the statement
was anecdotal.
- Could we
combine the current condition and cause of condition tables? Reformat the
restoration actions to match the condition tables?
- If you
find data gaps, then note the gaps.
- For Table
D, remember to rank order the restoration actions for salmonids. This
will address the priority actions for stocks and help us with our
sequencing of habitat actions.
General
comments
- In the
1975 report, chum was described in the Upper Chehalis. The re-establishment of historic runs will be
important to describe in the strategy.
- Chad made copies (cd) of the LFA,
Stream Catalogue, Off Channel Report, and Stream Corridor reports for the
group. Lee will also post these resources on the Grays Harbor County website.
- The SRFB
wants to see more details in our list of actions. For example, we could
use the barrier assessment PI.
The group
reviewed Lonnie’s template for the Wishkah subbasin. In Section D, please
remember to rank the stocks for each restoration action. The group informally
ranked barrier corrections and rated chum first. The group also needs to
describe which watershed process are addressed and connect that process to a
stock.
The next
meeting is March 10th. Anyone who finishes their template early
should send it to Lee for distribution to the group prior to the meeting.
