Brainstorming Tasks for DIP Interim Milestone 3.5

“A work group representing basin-wide interests and agencies will convene to oversee the current and future scientific studies, and to develop and oversee the public process to recommend instream flow levels for the Chehalis Basin.”

A	CBP designates the work group to coordinate all activities	Consistent funding sources	Recruit specialist in instream flows
B	Monitor 1976 flow sites to evaluate if instream flows met^J	Make sure collected data goes to GIS clearinghouse	Data gaps: What info do we have - what’s missing	Determine what flows are hydrologically achievable	Turn to habitat group for habitat needs	Determine if data & methodology is adequate to move forward	Encourage voluntary flow monitoring at other sites ^J	Commences inventory of streams w/ no requirements	Instream flow group evaluates status of IFIM
C	Agreement on methodology	Develop recommendations for instream flows	Determine legality of recommendations	Determine other parameter needs (rec., aesthetics, etc.)	Develop options for stakeholders to address supplement instream flows	Bring in stakeholders to negotiate/ recommend instream flows
D	Continuous outreach with public – style	Have supportive agencies involved in outreach	Coordinate with GMA & land use planning (group)
