"This is a perfect opportunity for local residents to make a valuable contribution to help keep our waterways clean," says Rob Schanz, area resident and Chehalis River Council Board Secretary. "Litter is not only unsightly and potentially hazardous to the people who boat, swim and fish in these waters, but it also poses a threat to the wildlife populations that depend on these waterways."
Volunteers will stage their cleanup starting at noon on Saturday June 17, at the Rainbow Falls State ParkClick here for cleanup map. They will be part of a National River Cleanup Week which is conducted nationally June 3 - 10.
The cleanup effort will conclude with a potluck picnic at Rainbow Falls State Park. For more information or to volunteer for the Chehalis cleanup, contact Rob Schanz at 360-291-3725 or the CRC office at 360/273-6137.
