Streambanks - then and now

As we deal with streambank restoration issues in 2000, here is a report, without comment, which appeared in the Montesano Vidette Flashback, June 15, 2000 from the Pages From the Past section 100 years ago - June 15, 1900

Over 4000 stumps and snags were cleaned from the Chehalis River from Montesano to the Harbor this season. The unusual large number of obstructions was caused mainly by the record breaking high water and resulting cave-ins along the shore.
