Flooding patterns & problems in western Wash. discussed

The Montesano Vidette , 1/11/2001

Are you interested in flooding in western Washington? Do you know the causes, patterns and events which lead up to our frequent major flooding disasters?

Sometimes the answers can be found by observing what others have learned about flooding in our state. To help bring this information to you, there will be a free public seminar on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at WE West High School in Chehalis, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The Chehalis River Council and the Lewis County Flood Control Citizens Advisory Committee have arranged for Mr. Larry Kunzler to speak to the public and share what he has learned and experienced about flooding in Skagit County.

For over 25 years Mr. Kunzler has worked as a private citizen on the Skagit River flood issue. He has served on the Skagit River Hood Control Advisory Committee; the State Department of Ecology Flood Plain Management Advisory Committee and the Washington State Legislative Joint Select Committee on Flood Damage Reduction. He currently serves as "historical advisor" to the Skagit County Flood Reduction Committee. He has authored a book entitled "Skagit River Valley-The Disaster Waiting to Happen".
