Land Trust and River Council move to Centralia
Centralia, WA, January 28,2002. The Chehalis River Council and the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust are now sharing office space in Centralia. The Chehalis River Council recently moved its office from Oakville to Centralia. The new address is: 417 North Pearl Street, Centralia 98531 in the Carpenters' Union building. New phone numbers (currently serving both organizations) are: 360-807-0764 (voice) and 807-0765 (fax).
The Chehalis River Council is a grass-roots, all volunteer environmental organization dedicated to the preservation and conservation of natural resources in the greater Chehalis River Basin. Its office and natural resource library has been in Oakville since 1995. The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust is a private, non-profit organization of citizens dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring ecologically significant lands in the Chehalis River Basin. It accepts conservation easements from landowners who want to ensure that their property is protected from unwanted changes in perpetuity.
"We hope that the central location of the new office will permit both
organizations to better serve our members and all citizens of the basin and
encourage involvement, " said Margaret Rader, CRC chair. "Although the space
is smaller, we are still a library, and we hope people interested in water
issues will come in. We are very excited about working with the Land Trust
because our mission and goals are so similar."
