EPA "ENVIROFACTS" WEBSITE WINS AWARD
EPA was one of the 1998 winners of the Enterprise Value Award sponsored by CIO (Chief Information Officer) magazine. The information technology award was given for "Envirofacts Warehouse" (click here to go directly) program on the Internet at: http://www.epa.gov/enviro/.

The web site maps environmental data about more than 700,000 sites that handle potentially dangerous chemicals and identifies their harmful substances. Users can access information on the sites by name, address or zip code. The purpose of the site is to increase public awareness of the impact of pollution on the environment and public health among community leaders, journalists, local activitists, citizens and businesses. The Enterprise Value Award was given to EPA for using Web technology to improve customer service to the public.
