A number of roads remained closed in Lewis County this morning, although high water had started to recede in many areas.

Roads closed included Lincoln Street, Rice Road, Twin Oaks Road near State Route 603, Mill Road in Napavine, and Kresky Road in Chehalis.

State Route 6 near Adna was open this morning after having been closed Thursday.

Several roads in Southwest Thurston County remained closed as of this morning.

At Rochester, U.S. Highway 12 was to open about 8 a.m. today. It had closed at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, said Mike Karl of the Thurston County Roads Department.

Anderson Road to the Chehalis Indian Reservation, and Independence Road from Marple Street to Michigan Hill Road, were closed.

Flooding of Salzer Creek in North Chehalis left 12 inches of standing water on Kresky this morning, said Randy Hamilton, Chehalis police and fire services chief.

Kresky Road from Hampe Road to Scott-Johnson Road remained closed as of this morning. Hamilton said it might open by this afternoon.

"We're not going to open it until (Chehalis) public works crews can inspect Kresky for any structural damage," Hamilton said this moming.

"Some holiday shoppers will be inconvenienced by this," he said. "But we're asking that they remain patient."
