Chehalis River expected to flood again

The Twin Cities are in store for another round of flooding today, with the Chehalis River expected to crest 2 feet over flood stage at Centralia at midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
By 4 a.m. Thursday, the Chehalis is expected to crest 2 feet over flood stage at Ground Mound.
''Heavy rains that fell overnight propagate rivers and streams in the region,'' Jim Jones, a forecaster in Seattle, said today.
The Skookumchuck River in Centralia is expected to crest 2 feet below flood stage at 8 p.m. today and 6 inches below flood stage at 4 p.m. at Bucoda, according to the National Weather Service.
The Chehalis River is forecast to crest 1 foot above flood level at 10 p.m. today at Porter, 10 miles north of Oakville.
Ted Karniss, a weather observer at Pe Ell, said 4.06 inches of rain was recorded between 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. today.
The Centralia Fire Department recorded 1.46 inches of rain from 9 p.m. Monday and 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The forecast calls for more showers through the remainder of the week.
On Thursday the temperature is expected to drop, with overnight lows forecast between 25 and 35. High will be in the low 40s. The snow level will drop to 1,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
