On December 30, 1998 - one of the television providers (AandE) ran a 1 hour 'Investigative Report" with the title: "A Civil Action". This is also the name of a movie to be released in January of 1999.
The movie deals water quality in a painful way - as it portrays (Hollywood style) the agony faced by residents of Woburn Massachusetts when they encountered higher than normal rates of leukemia among their children.
The Woburn story was first used by the CRC as an example of water contamination in June of 1996. You can start accessing our limited records on the Contamination link and this Woburn link.
This movie will be one of the first of its kind to emphasize the relationship of water quality and human health and show the issues that surround pollution issues. Perhaps with more national attention we will see more local involvement and protection of our valuable resources.
