************************************************************************ ******************* 1999 MENDENHALL RESEARCH SEMINAR ******************* ************************************************************************ The Washington District of the U.S. Geological Survey is sponsoring a presentation by Dr. Robert Meade, a USGS research scientist from Denver, CO. Dr. Meade will be coming to Tacoma to present the 1999 Mendenhall Research Seminar, "Large Rivers and Their Floodplains as Conveyors and Storers of Sediment and Contaminants." The presentation will take place in the Olympic Room of the downtown branch of the Tacoma Public Library, Monday, March 1, 1999, at 3:30 p.m. and should last about an hour. The address of the library is 1102 Tacoma Ave. S. Dr. Meade has studied large rivers around the world and his talk will focus on erosion and sediment storage and transport in drainages affected, todiffering degrees, by human activities.
