NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Thurston County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on May 19, 1999, at 7:00 p.m., in Room 152, Building 1, of the Thurston County Courthouse Complex, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia, Washington, 98502. The purpose of the hearing is to accept public comment on amendments to the Critical Areas Ordinance, Chapter 17.15, and the County's zoning ordinances, Titles 20, 21, 22, and 23 of the Thurston County Code. The package of amendments includes the following:
Chapter 17.15, Critical areas ordinance: amend provisions for new uses within Designated Wellhead Protection Areas; add provisions for certain existing or expanding uses within such areas; and amend Figure 30. A large map showing the location of Designated Wellhead Protection Areas, including proposed changes, is available for viewing at the Thurston County Permit Assistance Center, at the address given below. A number of technical corrections, clarifications and updates are also proposed.
Title 20, Rural area zoning: Modify landscaping requirements for parking lots; make a number of clarifications and corrections for consistency among different chapters. Title 2 1 . Lacey urban growth area (UGA) zoning: Make a number of technical corrections and minor changes to simplify and clarify requirements. Define and clarify limits for "junk vehicles." Define and add provisions for "temporary uses." Title 22, Tumwater UGA zoning: Clarify a conflict concerning accessory dwelling units in the Residential/Sensitive Resource district; make a number of minor changes to simplify and clarify requirements; modify the threshold for landscaping existing commercial and industrial uses upon expansion; modify certain landscaping requirements; add a capacity standard for off-street parking at medical clinics; and apply design guidelines to certain commercial uses located within residential districts. Define and clarify limits for "junk vehicles." Define and add provisions for "temporary uses." Title 23, Olympia UGA zoning: Make a number of clarifications to existing provisions; remove the maximum front yard setback for residences; remove a conflict between zoning and building codes for structures within setbacks; apply design guidelines to special uses located in residential districts. Define and clarify limits for "junk vehicles."

Action may be taken by the Thurston County Planning Commission at the close of the hearing. The form of this action will be a recommendation to the Thurston County Board of Commissioners, which is the final decision-making authority on this matter.
