Music Under the Stars is a yearly celebration of Science and Arts that takes place in Onalaska Washington during the month of August each year. This is a gathering of musical groups, telescopes and science displays of all kinds and sizes for a unique and entertaining evening. The 1998 version of this yearly festival was a great success. Over 700 people attended the 2nd annual MUTS festival even though the skies were cloudy throughout much of the day.
The commitment of the school, community and individuals throughout the region could be seen in the wide variety of activities and displays available for the general public to enjoy. This year's festival will continue to develop a regional approach through an environmental science theme that focuses on Southwest Washington and in particular the Chehalis River Basin.
It is also dedicated to the continued focus of Astronomical and Earth Science in general.
A unique combination of student and professional organizations will be participating in this event. Displays will be supplied by the Chehalis River Council, the Lewis County Soil Conservation District, Weyerhaeuser and the Department of Natural Resources just to name a few. NASA has supplied us with a wide variety of materials which will also be placed on display.
Student exhibits will be varied ranging from astronomical sciences to environmental sciences. Park tours will also be run by the students.
A variety of musical groups will play throughout the evening some of these include Onalaska's High School Jazz band and the rock band Inertia both plugged and unplugged. And don't be surprised if you see "Vance Astro" there.
The Onalaska Astronomy Club in conjunction with the Onalaska Regional Science Association sponsors this yearly summer event. For further information you can check out the Music Under the Stars Internet site at the following address:

This years Music Under the Stars should be better than ever. There will be food galore and even an evening fireworks display. Bring the family for an enjoyable and educational evening. Take exit 71 heading east off of I-5. Travel east for 7 miles until you reach the town of Onalaska. I think you will enjoy what you see.
Hope to see you there!
