GRAVEL MINING AND AQUIFERS A Citizen's Workshop

Saturday, September 18th, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Sallal Grange, North Bend, Washington

$15 fee to cover costs

co-sponsored by Advocates for Instream Flow and Cascade Gateway Foundation

Gravel mining in Washington is increasing at a tremendous rate, tied largely to growth and economic development. Because gravel deposits are often located near rivers and in aquifer recharge zones, the potential for harm to aquatic resources is large. Around the state, many individuals and groups are working to stop the harmful environmental effects of gravel mining where they live. This workshop will bring people together to learn about the issues and share experiences. The workshop will feature speakers talking about the science, law, regulations, and politics surrounding gravel mining.

We will also have an opportunity for workshop attendees to speak about their local issues. A notebook of informational materials will be provided with registration.

If you are working on gravel mining issues, we hope you can attend! For more information, or to register for the workshop, please call or e-mail:
