THURSTON New water board needs applicants

The Thurston County commissioners are seeking nominations for the new Thurston County Water Conservancy Board, designed to review requests for changes to existing, legally valid water rights.

Authorized under state law, members of the board will begin considering water right transfers after completing a Department of Ecology-mandated training program.

The three-member board, comprised of volunteers from the community, will consider applications for water-right transfers and may make conditional decisions pending Ecology's final review.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest that describes their background in water rights or other water resource issues, -and relevant experience in other public-policy arenas. Letters should be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Nov. 30 to LaBonita Bowmar, Clerk, Thurston County Board of County Commissioners, 2000 Lakeridge Drive S.W, Olympia, WA 98502-6045.
