New Newsletter from the CRCThe Chehalis River Council is reaching out in effort to communicate with residents, agencies and businesses in the entire Chehalis watershed.
In September we will produce the first edition of a monthly newsletter which will reach every newspaper receiving household (over 45,000) in the watershed.
This full page newspaper insert will be distributed by newspapers in Thurston, Lewis and Grays Harbor counties. If will focus only on the Chehalis watershed - upper and lower.
The objective of the newsletter is to provide a common means for organizations, like yours, to communicate with almost everyone in the watershed. Too often the environmental news event which happened in Tenino is unreported in Hoquiam. Likewise major progress made on streambank restoration by a farmer in Lewis county goes unnoticed by a oyster farmer in Westport.
Sometimes the news is nothing more than a meeting schedule, other times it could be a call for volunteers or an opportunity to participate in a cost-share program. This year enormous effort has gone into streambank restoration work and little, if any, of the progress has been reported. On the other hand there are some water quality or water resource decisions contemplated in the upper reaches which, though unknown about, will have an impact on residents downstream. Whatever the topic this newsletter, for and about the watershed, can be a help to you or your organization if you have a need to reach a wide audience.
The purpose of this letter is to announce this combined newsletter to you and invite your organization to submit complete stories or articles for consideration and free publication. If you feel you want a guaranteed amount of space throughout the year we can do that for cooperating partners. Either way, participation is open to environmental groups, tribes, and agencies.
If you have any questions or want more information please give me a call. It is easiest, sometimes, since I am a volunteer, to call me at home (360/273-8117). If you have a meeting notice you would like included in future editions then please mail it to "Drops of Water, Chehalis River Council, 417 N. Pearl St., Centralia, WA 98531" or press here.
Sincerely,
Dave Palmer
