Rivers are an intergal part of Western Washington. While the Chehalis is only one of many river systems, it is the largest system in the state. The Columbia, while larger, shares a watershed with Oregon. The Chehalis system covers over 2600 square miles, portions of 5 counties, and totally dependent upon rainfall, and faces many challenges to its' health, management, and future.
