Baird funding efforts, an editorial endorses flood insurance, raising homes and flood control to address local flooding and the month ended with discussioon on the use of 'airport' property for a flood dike or treatment plant. |

| February 2001 In February we learned about: a new alphabetical listing of all Drops of Water articles, flood damage reduction project update and public outreach, legislative pressure to speed up water rights processing. Irrigation management plans Hamilton-Labree Road site is still a mystery as officials search for yet another source for the major PCE contamination showing up at that site, a programmatic EIS for instream flows, reclaimed and reused wastewaters, small forest landowners to protect salmon by saving stream-side trees and finally appeals against the Shorelines Management Act | January 2001 Topics in January included: Aberdeen addresses changes in fees for stormwater and sewer., Aberdeen joins others in the appeal of Shoreline Management Act, workshops this month to review and comment on draft proposals for changing some of the state's water quality standards, the Chehalis River Council library has been updated with over 200 new additions, Centralia and Chehalis are facing major funding issues as they choose future for local waste treatment plants, the Port of Grays Harbor joins in appeal of new shorelines rule, a series of two-day workshops for leaders of volunteer estuary monitoring programs, and WaDNR and WaDOE have agreed to a cleanup order to deal with pesticide contaminated soil and water at a WaDNRnursery. |
